In the west there are many reversions via the sudreh pooshi ceremony (our navjote, your janeu).

But on a mass scale I dont know how we will do it.

We did it once in 18th century Bombay. Some 400 or 700 children at one go.

More recently, weve done it to hundreds (thousands) of Kurds. And their priests we've brought here to train. I've posted photos on the OG forum once. Or maybe it was at Strat Front. I cannot remember now.

Either way, once the floodgates open, the challenge will be to ensure dalits do not slyly make their way inside.

You know. Half breeds. Some Persian blood. The rest juddin.

It happened in 1882. Famously referred to thereafter as the Mazgaon Navjote.

Poor children of dock workers (Mazgaon docks) of mixed parentage were inducted into the faith as a one time thing.

Because they all came to our priests and it was a really sad plight. As they were not accepted into the faith, and they carried their father's name.

It created a massive scandal at the time, with a huge backlash drom various sections of the community.

And the door closed thereafter.

What pushed this one case through was the peiest who did the navjote.

He is revered as a modern saint among Zoroastrians worldwide. One of the greatest who ever lived. Worker of many famous miracles.

Mazagon Navjotes

Dasturji Kukadaru was reported to have participated in the Mazgaon Navjotes. In 1882, a group of poor dock workers living and working in the Mazgaon Docks appealed to various priests and also petitioned the Bombay Parsi Panchayet (BPP) to be admitted as Parsi Zoroastrians, despite being born of mixed Zoroastrian and non-Zoroastrian parentage. Some 200 prominent Parsis collected funds and eminent priests (including Kukadaru and Jamaspji Minocherji,) performed the Navjote ceremony, in the presence of a large gathering on 26 June 1882. At the time it was said this act of generosity brought "prestige to the community". Eleven navjotes were performed of 4 males and 5 females, adults with ages ranging from 35 years to 77 years as well as two children. The two children of 5 and 2, were considered too young to undergo the ritual. It was understood that all of the initiates had male Parsi parentage. This event was duly reported in the Mumbai Samachar, Jam-e-Jamshed and Parsi Prakash’. Reformists Parsis, including the plaintiffs in the case of Petit vs. Jeejeebhoy cite the events of the Mazagon Navjotes as evidence of universal acceptance in Zoroastrianism.
